Nowadays the importance of the Discrete Element Method (DEM) is unquestionable. It can be used wide range of fields such as agricultural engineering, mining engineering, civil engineering, etc. Before this method the simulation of these systems which are consisted of different particles was difficult or impossible. However sometimes DEM is not enough to give information about the complete behavior of a complete complex system. Thus it can be connected to different other simulation methods such as Finite Element Method (FEM). Thus the topics include (but are not limited to) the following new developments:

  • DEM simulations

  • Coupled DEM-FEM simulations

  • Coupled DEM-MBD simulations

  • DEM material model developments

  • Different applications of DEM

  • Different application of the coupled simulations
