The restrictions on fossil energy sources as well as the increasing environmental impact by their use require a rethinking in the area of the energy production. The Renewable Energy Sources Act of the Federal Republic of Germany aiming at least 80% of the energy provided from renewables up to 2050 is just one example. Therefore an increase in the efficiency of renewable technologies is a basic prerequisite to fulfil political objectives. This interdisciplinary track provides a forum for the presentation and discussion of recent academic and industrial research on simulation and modelling of drag reducing technologies and the application of (renewable) fuels with innovative combustion technologies.

Authors are invited to submit their contributions on the following topics (but not limited to):

  • Drag reducing technologies

  • Surface roughnesses

  • Transition and turbulence modelling

  • Wind turbines, hydroelectrical power

  • Renewable fuels/Power to gas

  • Emission and pollution

  • Dynamics and instabilities

  • Complex chemistry and reacting flows

  • Gas turbine, engine
