ABSTRACT

The packet loss effect is a vital factor in evaluating the efficiency of a packetization process; the study of the sensitivity of a signal to error is a prior stage to packing the signal frames for later transmission. This paper incorporates the study of error sensitivity of an H.261 encoded video signal and proposes a Dynamic Priority Algorithm (DPA) to improve the Quality of Service (QoS) of a video signal subjected to information loss. Subjective and objective results are provided before and after DPA has been applied. SNR is used to evaluate the quality objectively.
