Abstract:

Though repeatedly pointed out in the literature, simulation technology still suffers from the leak of software tools that support the planning execution, and analysis of large-scale experiments. The conceptual separation of models and experiments suggests the development of generic experimentation environments whose functionality can be reused by a large number of modeling and simulation tools. The Eclipse platform provides a contemporary architectural framework for the development of such systems. In This contribution, we present a generic experimental environment that integrates the functionality of experimentation tools previously developed in our group with prototypical Eclipse plug-ins for interactive experimentation support.
