Abstract:

Organizational modeling gains importance in the development of multi-agent systems, both for modeling and simulation of phenomena in social science and

economics, as for developing complex systems to support, e.g., virtual enterprises. This paper contributes to these efforts an analysis and example formalizations and simulation of cause and effect of organizational change. Causes of change are categorized and related to internals within organizations via trees covering different aggregation levels. Furthermore, properties which should be satisfied by organizational change are identified and specified.
