ESS'2003 HIGHLIGHTS

• Keynote speech by Dr. Katherine L.  Morse (SAIC). "The EXtensible Modeling and Simulation Framework (XMSF)"

• Invited Plenary speech by Prof. Richard Nance (Virginia Tech), "Simulation Futures: The Investment Risks"

• Invited Plenary speech by Prof. Osman Balci (Virginia Tech / ORCA), "Meeting the Challenges of Verification, Validation, and Certification of Complex Models and Simulations"

• Two tutorials will be held during ESS'2003, free for all participants:
  - Tutorial on simulation and optimization on Monday afternoon
  - Tutorial on D-SOL, the Distributed Java-based Simulation Object library (open source) on Tuesday afternoon

Just before the ESS conference, the 7th IEEE DS-RT'2003 International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications will take place from 23-25 October at Delft University of Technology as well. If you are working in the field of distributed simulation or real-time simulation, joining both conferences will save travel costs and time! The Website of DS-RT'2003 is http://www.cs.unibo.it/ds-rt2003/

An XMSF/CSPIF workshop will be held between the DS-RT'2003 conference and the ESS'2003 conference on October 25.  If you want more information, contact Dr. Simon Taylor of Brunel University. Look for further information on www.cspif.com.
