Abstract

The key feature in our approach to the problem of Discrete Event Simulation is an explicit ability to distinguish between the description and prescription of a system's dynamics. Action and behaviour are in our approach complementary notions, and a smooth integration between them will be proposed. Actions will be seen as operations on states, while behaviour will be modeled by the introduction of some deontic operators. We will be able to state when actions may and must happen, as opposed to a simple description of the effects of such actions.
